We have had an exciting and enriching STEM Week across the school.  STEM stands for Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, and provides opportunities for children to explore these subjects through practical, engaging activities. We focus on STEM to develop curiosity, problem-solving and teamwork—skills that are essential for the future.

The week also celebrated the 100th birthday of Sir David Attenborough, a world-renowned natural historian, who has inspired generations to understand and protect our planet. His work encouraged us to take our learning outdoors and develop a deeper appreciation of the natural world.

Each year group took part in their own special activities, including:

Year 3 enjoyed a hands-on engineering session exploring bubble geometry, investigating the shapes and structures formed by bubbles.

Year 4 applied their maths skills by measuring and comparing perimeters around the playground in a practical outdoor investigation.

Year 5 designed and built brilliant bee houses, now placed in the sensory garden to support pollination and encourage this important wildlife.

• Year 6 explored the school grounds, searching for interesting plants, animals and natural features to include in their own David Attenborough-style documentaries. They also made some mug cakes as part of their science learning to observe the new substances that are made.

The week also included a fantastic animal-themed orienteering session, inspired by David Attenborough’s passion for the natural world, where children navigated the school grounds.

It was a brilliant week filled with curiosity, creativity and teamwork—we are very proud of all the children!
