Mrs Mawer's Art Challenge: Van Gogh
Van Gogh

The next artist we are focusing on is Vincent Van Gogh. There are various resources below, could you use one of these to inspire you to create your own masterpiece or could you recreate and replicate a Van Gogh piece from the images above?
If you are able to, send a picture of your artwork into school via adminoffice@manor-junior.hants.sch.uk and we can then add them to the gallery pages.
Mrs Hastings' Kindness Challenge
Mrs Hastings was wondering if you can complete the Kindness Calendar?
Try to fill in each box with an act of kindness you have done or received! You can start on any day or date.
Examples of kindness could include:
-
Write a letter to a friend or family member.
-
Tell somebody a joke to make them laugh.
-
Tell someone three reasons why they are special to you.
-
Help a member of your family complete one of their chores.
-
Sing a song over the phone / via Zoom to an elderly relative.
You may want to use the blank calendar below, to help keep track of what you have done.
Mrs Blissett's Computing Challenge
Hi all, I have animated my name on Scratch (see the first link added below) and challenge you to create a better one. We will try and share some on our school website.
In order for Scratch to work, you will need to open the website using Chrome or Edge (see the second link I have posted below).
If you have your own Scratch account, you can save your project in the Manor Junior School Farnborough Studio. If you don’t have a Scratch account, save the project onto your computer and then email it through to school or save it on a memory stick and then bring it in to school once we're fully open.
I look forward to seeing your animated names! Have fun using, creating and coding using Scratch!
Mrs Mawer's Art Challenge: Renoir
Renoir
Our next challenge in school, is going to be based around Renoir and his famous umbrellas.
Using any type of resources, can you create your own version of the painting? You could sketch, colour, paint or make a collage.
If you are able to, send a picture of your artwork into school via adminoffice@manor-junior.hants.sch.uk and we can then add them to the gallery pages.
Mr Dent's Flag Challenge
To help mark VE Day (Friday 8th May), Mr Dent challenges you to download and create this flag. If you would like to find out more about what's so special about today, read the information and watch the Newsround clips that are also linked to below. Or if you would like more activities related to today's events, look for the Twinkl VE Day Home Learning pack in the year group pages.
Mrs de la Hoyde's Writing Challenge
My son Jackson is in Year R and he has just started his ‘home-learning’ topic of dinosaurs. Could you help him learn about dinosaurs by creating a fact-file, a poster, a PowerPoint, or another suitable way of displaying information?
Your audience is a 5-year-old boy, so think about how you might gain his interest, perhaps using illustrations, colours, bold titles and suitable facts.
Could you perhaps include some words that he might be able to read too? He can decode using up to Phase 4 phonemes and is working on Phase 5 and would like a challenge.
Good luck, Jackson looks forward to seeing your work!
The following may help you to know what's included in the different phonic phases:

Monet
As you can see from the picture above, children in school have recreated a version of Monet's painting of his garden.
Using any type of resources, can you create your own version of the painting? You could sketch, colour, paint or make a collage.
If you are able to, send a picture of your artwork into school via adminoffice@manor-junior.hants.sch.uk and we can then add them to our online 'Manor Monet Gallery'.
