Zoolab
Year 6 started the Spring term with a fantastic impact day to start our topic, ‘Hola, South America!’. During the morning each class experienced three different activities. We certainly began the term with a bang as we began learning about Samba music and had a go at learning different rhythms. The drums were definitely used with great enthusiasm. We learned about the Yawanawà Tribe and this inspired some fantastic art work. Each class also had an enlightening lesson led by Zoolab, who taught us about some animals found in rainforests. We got to see and touch an African snail, a cockroach and a cornsnake! We also learnt about (and saw) a White Tree Frog and a scorpion.
Some of our year 6’s shared their thoughts:
Bonnie: I was shocked that the tree frogs use their eyes to swallow their food!
Charlotte: I was amazed that the snail could grow to the size of the man’s hand!
Joya: I really liked seeing the scorpion glowing under the UV light.
Kayla: I loved the cornsnake and being able to hold it.
Reggie: Me and Oscar thought the snake would feel stiff and we were so surprised that it didn’t feel hard.
